Where Collaboration and Creation Meet

A collaborative makerspace & retail shop for local creators, run by local creators

Why Choose Us?

La Diáspora is a collaborative space for local creators, run by local creators. All of our merchandise has been dreamed up, designed, and crafted by artisans, artists, and creatives from Chicopee and neighboring areas.

When you shop at La Diáspora you support local creators, mainly of color, in their dream of becoming full-time thriving business owners. You will receive one on one consultation and design support for our wide range of personalized products. Don't see exactly what you need? Give us a call or stop on by, you may be surprised to find out that we are equipped to manifest your dream product quickly and professionally!

When you do stop by to visit La Diáspora, you'll be received by our consignment retail shop, get to meet our collaborative members, and enjoy special programming throughout the year.

If you are a creative entrepreneur looking for a space to work and/or share your creations, look no further! We have a variety of membership opportunities and would be happy to consult with you on what would best suit your needs! Just email us at and we'll be in touch.

Lastly, Hahom-Gracias-Thank you! Yes, we're thanking you before you even make a purchase! Why? Because you deserve to be thanked for merely existing! By existing right here and right now, you've contributed more than you know into this world and that alone deserves our gratitude.

We look forward to working with you soon!

Who 'WE' are

Jeannette & Johnny

Johnny Miranda and Jeannette Rivera are both active Chicopee community members who are passionately invested in beautifying its center and having it reflect the vibrant diversity of the city they call home. With more and more storefronts closing, and creative entrepreneurs needing refuge and exposure, Johnny & Jeannette decided to create La Diáspora, a name inspired by their Afro-Taino roots.

As space activators, it is important to Johnny & Jeannette that they take a community-responsive business approach with La Diáspora, focusing on being creatively adaptive and fostering sustainable results that stimulate local economic growth, exposure, and expansion of local creatives, and surrounding businesses.

Johnny & Jeannette believe that, “The way to thrive is to help others thrive; the way to flourish is to help others flourish; the way to fulfill yourself is to spend yourself.” – Cornelius Plantinga
